COVID-19 Safety

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact society around the world, Downingtown West Little League is committed to providing a healthy opportunity for the kids in our community to participate in baseball, softball, and quickball this year.  We will execute policies in compliance with government guidelines to mitigate risk for all participants and their families.
In 2020 we executed a safe and successful season with similar policies.  We look forward to doing it again in 2021 and we hope to see you out there with us.  Please see the current list of guidelines below.  If you have any questions, please contact us directly through email at info@dwestll.org

DWLL COVID Guidelines

  • All coaches, volunteers and officials will wear a mask at all times.
  • Players on the field in a defensive position, batting, base running, or doing drills (I.e. practices) are NOT required to wear masks.
  • At all other times during games players must wear masks. Before they leave the field of play to the sidelines or dugout, they must raise or put on their mask.
  • Umpires may call games from behind the plate, if they choose.
  • Fans should social distance from anyone not in their household and follow all county COVID Guidelines.
  • Parents must check their children’s temperature and for any symptoms of illness prior to attend a league event.
  • Coaches and volunteers must self-check.
  • Anyone exhibiting symptoms of illness must refrain from attending and if symptoms are observed in a player, coach, or official during a League event, they will be asked to leave.
  • Anyone that tests positive for COVID-19 or has been in direct contact with someone who is positive should report this to the DWLL Safety Officer and/or President. They should also report this to the Chester County Health Department at 610-344-6000 to determine if contact tracing is required.

DOWINGNTOWN WEST LITTLE LEAGUE GUIDELINES/RESPONSIBILITIES FOR VOLUNTEERS, COACHES, PLAYERS AND FAMILIES:

  • DOWNINGTOWN WEST LITTLE LEAGUE WILL COMPLY WILL ALL APPLICABLE LOCAL, COUNTY & STATE COVID REGULATIONS THROUGHOUT THE SEASON
  • PLAYERS, COACHES AND VISITORS SHALL PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING (AT LEAST 6 FEET) AT ALL TIMES POSSIBLE AND DO NOT CONGREGATE AT ENTRY POINTS, CONCESSION, RESTROOMS, OR SIMILAR LOCATIONS.
  • BLEACHERS ARE OFF LIMITS, COACHES WILL DISSINFECT DUGOUT BENCHES (IF USED) AFTER EACH EVENT, RESTROOMS WILL BE DISINFECTED DAILY.  DISINFECTANT WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE IN SNACK BAR/RESTROOM AREA.
  • PARENTS MUST TAKE THEIR CHILDS TEMPERATURE PRIOR TO ARRIVING AT THE LEAGUE ACTIVITIES.  IF THEIR TEMPERATURE IS 100.4°F OR GREATER, THEY MAY NOT PARTICIPATE
  • COACHES, ON-FIELD VOLUNTEERS, AND UMPIRES MUST TAKE THEIR OWN TEMPERATURE PRIOR TO ARRIVING AT THE LEAGUE ACTIVITIES.  IF THEIR TEMPERATURE IS 100.4°F OR GREATER, THEY MAY NOT PARTICIPATE
  • WASH HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER FOR AT LEAST 20 SECONDS AS FREQUENTLY AS POSSIBLE OR USE HAND SANITIZER IF SOAP AND WATER ARE NOT AVAILABLE. SANITIZER WILL BE AVAILABLE AT ALL FIELDS.
  • ATTENDEES SHOULD NOT CARPOOL; IF UNAVOIDABLE, REQUIRE THE USE OF MASKS WHILE CARPOOLING.
  • GAMES/PRACTICES WILL BE STAGGERED OR ALLOTED THE PROPER TIME IN BETWEEN ACTIVITIES TO MINIMIZE ENTRY AND EXIT TRAFFIC.
  • WHEN ENTERING THE FACILITY PLEASE WALK DOWN THE PAVED HILL FROM THE PARKING LOT TOWARD THE FIELD, WHEN EXITING PLEASE USE THE STAIRS.
  • ALL EQUIPMENT AND PERSONAL ITEMS ARE NOT TO BE SHARED.  LEAGUE OWNED EQUIPMENT SHOULD BE DISINFECTED DAILY, WHEN USED.  IF EQUIPMENT MUST BE SHARED IT SHOULD BE PROPERLY DISINFECTED BETWEEN USERS.
  • DURING DOWN TIME, ATHLETES AND COACHES SHOULD NOT CONGREGATE ON THE SIDLINES, DUGOUTS, BENCHES OR BATTING CAGES
  • ACTIVITIES THAT INCREASE THE RISK OF EXPOSURE TO SALIVA MUST NOT BE ALLOWED INCLUDING GUM, SPITTING, LICKING FINGERS AND EATING SUNFLOWER SEEDS
  • PLAYERS ARE NOT TO MAKE CONTACT WITH ONE ANOTHER FOR THINGS SUCH AS HIGH FIVES, FIST BUMPING, CHEST BUMPING, AND OTHER KINDS OF CELEBRATORY CONTACT. THIS GOES FOR COACHES AS WELL. ONCE GAMES END, PLAYERS WILL LINE UP AND OFFER VERBAL SENTIMENTS TO EACH OTHER. NO CONTACT WILL BE ALLOWED.
  • COACHES ARE ENCOURAGED TO SWAP LINEUP CARDS VIRTUALLY OR VERBALLY AND ARE REQUIRED TO REMAIN SOCIALLY DISTANT AT THE PRE-GAME PLATE MEETING.
  • SPECTATORS OVER THE AGE OF 65, AND THOSE WHO ARE CONSIDERED HIGH RISK FOR POTENTIAL INFECTION WITH COVID-19, MAY ATTEND GAMES, BUT IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH ACCEPTING THAT RISK, WE ADVISE YOU BE SAFE & STAY HOME.
  • ANY INDIVIDIAULS WHO ARE SICK, OR FEEL SICK, ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ATTEND GAMES OR BE PRESENT AT ANY FIELD. THIS INCLUDES, PLAYERS, COACHES, UMPIRES, LEAGUE OFFICIALS, AND SPECTATORS.
  • IF YOU HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO COVID-19 WITHIN THE LAST 14 DAYS, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ATTEND GAMES OR BE PRESENT AT ANY WEST BRADFORD FIELDS. THIS INCLUDES, PLAYERS, COACHES, UMPIRES, TOURNAMENT STAFF, AND SPECTATORS.
  • HAND SANITIZER WILL BE AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO NEED IT AT THE SNACK BAR. IF POSSIBLE, PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN HAND SANITIZER AS WELL FOR PERSONAL USE.
